This is just asinine
May 17, 2006 5:26AM PDT

Next thing you know, the RIAA will start pressuring lawmakers to make cassette recorders illegal, so people can't steal music over the radio waves.

Next thing you know, they'll shut down radio altogether, because they'll believe that someone out there will find a way to record it after the cassette recorders are outlawed.

Why stop there? Why not make electricity illegal, just because someone MIGHT find out some way to record music or television?

Looks like the RIAA and MPAA will single-handedly start the next dark age.

I have the solution...
May 17, 2006 5:47AM PDT

...BAN music/video.

We will hold a world amnesty where you can bring in your music and videos and was as associated paraphernalia without prosecution.

They might as well ban the human race while they're at it

Since people exhibit creative thought, and would be a matter of time before someone came up with music in some form.

No No No

they would be better just cutting peoples ears off, gorging their eyes out and rendering the vocal cords (somehow) useless.

God bless the RIAA Happy

Yeah, you're probably right Ross ...

If they did ban the human race, then there wouldn't be anyone left to make money off of.

Anyone still have a link to that website that showed the MPAA and RIAA combining to form MAFIAA? I'm absolutely convinced that that is going to happen one day.

RIAA doesn't want to hear from you...
May 23, 2006 8:30PM PDT

...I guess. I went to their website to send an email explaining how their actions diminish my enthusiasm for buying music (as my purchase supports RIAA lawsuits, etc.), but couldn't find a 'contact us' link except for the webmaster. Bah.

New Organization
May 24, 2006 10:14PM PDT

So, I have a DirecTV Tivo and the music service on DirecTV is XM... How long before they go after them!

I propose a new group be formed, the ''Listeners And Viewers Associaction'' or ''LAVA''. If you join as a listener or viewer, they would collect an Audience fee from the the RIAA and MPAA in your name. After all, where would they be without any listeners or viewers. To be fare, the fees would be the same as what the RIAA and MPAA charge. If they choose not to pay, then LAVA members would choose not to listen, view or buy.

QUICK AND SIMPLE
Jun 4, 2006 5:46AM PDT

BAN MONEY AND THE STOCK MARKET! All of the problems will then just disappear; of course not feasible. Make the MPAA AND RIAA forfeit all their money to the ggeneral fund of the government and only give them one million.

Greed Rules (again)
Jun 6, 2006 7:10AM PDT

There is only one way to satisfy the RIAA. When they figure out a way to make everyone pay a fee each time they hear a piece of music (ka-ching), they'll be happy. Maybe a chip that connects your inner ear directly to your credit card account.

RIAA is not the only one
Jun 6, 2006 7:14AM PDT

Game makers and publishers don't want stores like GameStop or EB to sell used games because then they can't get a peice of action.. they are banning all the game stores selling used copies.
