If you live in a rural area, you probably cannot get either cable or dsl for internet.

I strongly recommend you search for an alternative to dial-up.

The companies and affiliates that are with DirecTV & Dish Network (Hughes, WildBlue, etc). offer satellite dish internet.

And there is a 90% or greater possibility that you are also able to get "wireless internet"... They use a radio antenna and a tiny modem for internet service.

I to live in a rural area but i currently have DSL through Qwest but it is extremely slow because of the distance. Download is 263 kbps and upload is 190 kbps.I was wondering if anyone has experience with Hughes. They have a plan for $69.00 for 1.2 mbps. Is it worth switching?

Hughes Net Speeds

I'm a dealer for MotoSat DataStorm Mobile Internet and Hughes speeds are advertised as "UP TO" 1 Mbps download and 200 Kbps upload. As shared bandwidth, the speeds are actually as low as 300 Kbps dn, an 150 Kbps up. These are much more correct.
