I can empathize with everyone here. I bought my first A75-206 in August '04 and still do not have an operable machine.
This is my third machine. The first two experienced the same locking up issues others have been commenting on. My current one (which Toshiba replaced despite their stated "no replacement" policy) had a problem with the speakers going out on me. Luckily, I have a repair center close to me where they replaced the top cover assembly which was supposed to be causing all the locking up and speaker issues. Within a week, the speakers stopped working. I've been told it needs a new system board and the part is on back order with Toshiba. It's been two weeks and their best estimate is at least one more week before the part comes in.
Customer service throughout this process has been abysmal. This is very frustrating since the first Toshiba laptop I owned never had a single problem. Even if this problem eventually gets fixed, I'll never buy another Toshiba product again.
