Satellite A60

Jan 19, 2005 2:40PM PST

I'm interested in buying a notebook and it's going to be a budget one ... thinking of the Averatec 3200 or the Toshiba A60. What are goods and bads about these laptops? Averatec sounds really great (if you see what they give you for the money looks unbelievable) all that for this 'low' price.
I really would like replies of people who have experiences with either one of these laptops since I really don't know what to do.
Important for me is that I can do basic things like surfing the internet, word processing, very light gaming maybe, battery life and noise. (Fan noise).

Thanks in advance.

Averatec formerly Sotec -- stick to Toshiba or main brands

Averatec used to be Sotec so do searches on the web on Sotec --

This is like buying a Hyundai or Kia in the early years. These companies are improved now but not in the first several years they were selling.

So for the service/warranty issues alone I would go with Toshiba, Dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway etc. versus Averatec unless you are extremely price sensitive.

Note that trying to sell a used Korean car for any decent price is useless so if you buy one you have to drive it into the ground. If you buy a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, there are people everywhere that will buy it used in good condition.

Now that you can sell notebooks used on Ebay, etc make sure you buy a quality brand or you do not have this option later.........

Thanks, that means one thing ... I sort of heard about Averatec being 'not very famous' and upcoming but not big yet.
I'll stick to the Toshiba then.

Thanks.
