Hi,
I have a ASUS MOBO that allows to switch any SATA outlet to ISA.
However, I could not find a cable that converts SATA to ISA.
Please help! Thanks!

It seems odd to me. But, if you provide the details of what mtrbd. maybe the specs will give a better explanation of what you're asking. -----Willy Happy

I use the ASUS P8Z77-V MOBO. In the BIOS description in the section referring to SATA connection it states the following SATA modes:
1. IDE allows the use of serial ATA devices as parallel ATA devices
2. AHCI
3. RAID
I have two parallel ATA CD-ROM devices and would like to use them in mode 1. Do you think that is possible?
If "yes" then I need to know where to get the proper cable.
Thank you for your hints and suggestions!

The ASUS board is a P8Z77-V LK.
In the BIOS description there is a SATA mode selection that provides three options:
1. IDE allows to use serial ATA disks as parallel ATA storage devices.
2. AHCI
3. RAID
I have some IDE CD-ROM drives and would like to use them here. Should that be possible and how do I connect them?
Thanks for some hints!

You can either buy an IDE controller, SATA/IDE adapters or

get SATA CD-DVD burner(s). All things considered, getting new drives might be the simplest and least problematic for the long term.

In reverse order.

3. RAID for CD-ROM drives? That would be a first. I can't guess what this mad scientist is building.
(in other words, a dead end, and no.)

2. AHCI = one of the usual SATA modes. Works if the OS supports that and if not, like in XP you install SP2 plus all of the lovely drivers.
(in other words, likely but I find today's owners lost on this area. I don't have a tutorial.)

1. This is a bold statement. As I've seen it work and I've seen it fail. Best to forget the IDE to SATA adapters since they cost as much as the DVDRW SATA drives today!

You are right, that looks like a good drive, especially for that price! Thanks!

Now you won't be the Mad Scientist but you might get it working.

Yes, I am pretty sure about that. The drive is already ordered and on its way.
Thank you all!
