1. BIOS defaults. (test after each idea.)
2. Reseat the drive. (check our work.)
3. Does the drive spin up?
4. Test the drive in another machine.
Given the story it is possible the old drive is fine and the machine failed.

Hi. I have an Acer m1640 (Vista). The hard drive got busted and I bought a new SATA hard drive. I plugged it in but when I try to run recovery disk, I get the following message: No Hard Disk Found. I suspect the system is looking for an IDE Hard drive. My bios has the following information: Primary Ide Master Channel: Not detected Primary Ide Slave Channel : Not detected SATA Primary Master Channel: [ST37506...] SATA Primary slave Channel: [HL-DT-ST...] Thanks in advance. P.S I have searched on the acer site and couldn't find any documentation that could help with this problem.
