SANTA IS NOW A RELIGIOUS FIGURE

Moving on now to Warwick, New York. The local government elementary school wanted to raise a little money, so they set up an event called "Breakfast with Santa." Well, sure enough, some parent complained. Some woman (you could have guessed that, right?) wrote the school board to complain that Santa was a religious figure and that the school was promoting a religion by having the breakfast. It took no time at all for the school officials to cave, and what we now have is a "Winter Wonderland Breakfast" and Frosty the Snowman is going to join the event.

this bs is getting tiresome Sad

Unfair to elves!

In reply to: SANTA IS NOW A RELIGIOUS FIGURE

Santa Claus grew out of Saint Nicholas, and other European figures that brought a present to good little girls and boys.

This was not a "Breakfast With a Nativity Set".

"The Night Before Christmas" refers to Santa as "that jolly old elf", and pretty much defined Santa Claus in the USA.

Elves of America, unite! You have suffered discrimination! Happy

Seriously, IMO those that caved are as small as the person who complained. Had they had the strength of their convictions, they could have let this go all the way to SCOTUS.

My Mayor and Governor have both declared that "Merry Christmas!" is OK, BTW.

Warwick ? Frosty the Snowman is sharing

In reply to: Unfair to elves!

top billing this year with Santa at Sanfordville Elementary School?s annual ?Breakfast with Santa.?

Diane Tomko, Sanfordville?s PTA president, said she is happy with the compromise reached. The breakfast will take place and more people will be included.

?I am happy that because parents were willing to research the issues and share their information and opinions so openly and honestly, and our principal and superintendent were willing to listen and reconsider, our children will now have the opportunity to have twice as much magical fun rather than none at all this year at the Winter Wonderland Breakfast.? (that sounds less divisive, more in line with true spirit of christmas)

more here from the original article that actually is titled:

'Is Santa a religious icon?'

not: "santa >>>IS NOW<<< a religious figure". an elf pointed that out. and yes, santa's helpers are still in arbitration.
