Question

SANSUI LED TV STY1232C Buttons not responding

Mar 29, 2016 7:39PM PDT

My SANSUI LED TV STY1232C Buttons not responding, I use it as my computer screen. It used to work perfectly, until I started to have problems like speakers stop working shortly after I turn the screen on, whenever I would turn the screen on, the sound would work for a short period of time, then other problems came along, like some of the buttons would not respond, both the TV buttons and the Remote Control Buttons, only the Power buttons on the RC and the TV would respond correctly. Now, the Power buttons can only be used to turn the screen on, then it would stop responding after a couple of seconds, and no other buttons would respond at all. Do you guys know how to fix this, or if I should get a new screen?

Answer
I'd get estimates.

It could be the button board or the main board. Get estimates and see if it's more cost effective to replace or fix.

I can't tell if the remote works or not. Try new batteries.

I did replace the batteries of the Remote control with new ones, only the power button works, and it only works when the TV is off, I can turn it on with the Remote, and then it won't work, like I can't turn the TV off with it, and the other buttons won't work. Same thing with the TV, it must be the Main board like you said. I'll get it estimated. I won't buy SANSUI again. Could you recommend a good TV screen I might use as a Computer screen or an actual Computer Screen with HDMI output? I'm using the HDMI port as output. Thank you for responding. =)

Sadly no.

This model looks to be from 2011 so 5 years is inline for low cost models like this. There are now hundreds of models out there and no one will tell you you'll get more than some years from them. I have no such predictions. I use monitors and when they go south they are usually 4 or more years old and I go get another. This can infuriate folk that were used to TVs that lasted 20 years.
