sansa m250 problems, help!

i have synced 109 songs, about 4 hrs. worth, onto my sansa. it says i have 1.2 gb left, out of 1.9 i started with. i'll only get 300 song's or so at this rate, am i doing something wrong, using to much of the sansa's memory for each song or what. i'm using windows xp, with windows media player 10. thanks to all who answer this thread.
