Does the equalizer operate when the Sansa m230 is in FM radio mode?

I have the m250 and just tested it. You can 'access' the euqlaizer while in FM mode, but it did not seme as if it had an imapct to the music when I was asjusting the settings etc.

so whatever signal comes in for FM, it does not seem I think, that the equalizer impacts it. Obviously unlike when you are listing to the MP3 files etc

I noticed that also...

however, after reading the manual it states "With 5 equalizer types for the FM radio and music player, you can optimize your sound for your favorite style of music, for example, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Pop, and Custom (user-defined)".

I also noticed when I turn the Sansa off, then turn it back on the sound is a little lower than before I turned it off. I go into the menu and check the equalizer setting and simply select "equalizer" (without making any adjustments) and the sound goes up again. Wonder if I have a defective one or is this normal for the equalizer. (All this is in reference to the FM radio)
