SanDisk Sansa E280 & removing music

Apr 12, 2008 2:43PM PDT

Help! I have the E280 and I have some music on it that I want to delete. However, I cannot figure out how to do this! I tried looking at an owner's manual online but it doesn't have the 280; tried looking at another model but this didn't help. Does anyone know how to do this?? Also, the music that I want to delete does not show up when I connect it to my computer (have tried changing USB modes, too) so I can't do it that way. I hope someone can help because this is just driving me nuts!!!

Easiest way I've found is to hook it up to my computer and I can browse the drive to delete multiple files at once

deleting tunes from Sansa e280
Oct 18, 2008 1:18PM PDT

Did you ever find a solution to this ? I got a used e280 today in the mail from eBAY and it's got tunes already on it which I am super eager to get RID of a.s.a.p. It's in MSC mode, and I also can't see the tunes in question in the 'my computer' list of what's on the e280. If you can't find 'em you can't very well delete them via this route !! I can drag and drop new tunes and they'll show up in the directory. My guess is that the tunes that were on it were bought from some service, since they have artwork with them and are all 18 of them mostly single cuts by artists (but not to my own tastes in music). Could they have been entered in MTP mode and thus be invisable when connected by MSC mode to my computer's USB port ? What's up with all this ? I agree with stingmom8 that this is extremely annoying. MP3 players should be transparently simple to address as just another external USB drive.

removing music

I have this mp3 player and mine lets me delete music from the mp3 player itself. the song has to be playing or paused but you have to be on the song and then u press the down arrow button and a menu should come up and keep pressing down till u see delete song. You should be able to delete music when you hook it up to ur computer but u said it doesn't show up, i don't know why it wouldn't be showing up thats wierd.

I can't delete stuff on mine

I have a refurbished SanDisk/Sansa e280 and I can NOT delete files directly on the device. And I am having the same problem. They won't appear on my computer and I want to get rid of some duplicates. My sister has a SanDisk/Sansa e280 v2 not refurbished and hers will delete on the device. You can check on the back at the bottom to see what type it is.
Plus I need to know how to get album art on mine. It won't do it when I download it from Windows Media Player.

This Worked For Me
Jul 20, 2009 1:14PM PDT

I have a refurbished SanDisk/Sansa e280 player. I was trying to delete duplicates but my device would not let me. And in my Windows Media Player it would not show the files on the device. Here is what I did and it worked for me:
1. Plug device into USB
2. Went to my Computer
3. Under Other I clicked Sansa e280
4. When in the in, there was only one icon PPI NAND which I clicked
5. You now have acces to everything on device, I went in and deleted a video and by going through the Music folder I deleted my copies.

CONS:
I could not change file names once downloaded

Hope this helps you!!!
