Sandisk Cruzer not recognised by XP

Nov 26, 2006 11:17AM PST

Bought a Cruzer 512mb, but find some pcs recognise it, some don't. Sandisk have a driver for it, but when I try to load it, it refuses, saying that XP does not require a driver. This darn thing is driving me nuts. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks a million for your input. I saw somewhere that the problems with XP on PCs are confined to laptops, and this is the case with mine. My Dell desktop, also running XP, recognises the Cruzer instantly, but my IBM laptop with XP doesn't. Weird.

I'd look for motherboard or "system" drivers for the IBM.

There is also issues with drive letters when a network or CD emulation software is involved. If you had divulged the model number I could have looked for and offered which driver I think is at play here.
