Had a friend that this happened to, only on a PC.
He called Sandisk support and they sent him a firmware upgrade file. Be warned though. Next time your drive mounts, back up EVERYTHING on it. The firmware updater destroyed ALL data on the disk.

I have an intermittent and very irritating problem when plugging in a Sandisk Cruzer mini USB 1 GB drive directly into the front or either of the back USB ports. Sometimes it mounts and sometimes is does not.
This is on a Mac OS 10.4.2 Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 with 2GB memory. USB device tree does not show the presence of the Sandisk USB drive, but shows the USB keyboard and the LaCie 300 GB drive OK.
