Sandisk 4GB: Frozen?

Hi,

I just bought a 4GB Sandisk. I haven't even listened to anything with it, and it's already frozen. It won't even turn off when I hold down the power button.

Does anyone know how to restart it, short of unscrewing the back and removing and re-attaching the battery?

And if it's new, why not take it back to the store and exchange it?
