samsungs warranty warning

May 4, 2014 5:15AM PDT

Bought a new galaxy note 3 and straight from the box there is issues with the new usb 3.0 connector. Will not charge device. I have other cables and they work ok. Here is the big one people... brought it back bell at the same time got new galaxy s4 for daughter. They tell me those cables are to new and dont carry them yet. I call samsung, guy says oh ya just need receipt and will send you a new one. Email them the receipt and they reply a week later that samsungs warranty is is for techincal support only and accessories are delt with at the place of purchase... in otherwords... we have no warranty cause they dont cover hardware or software... techical issues only... sad that I did not know this before soaking 1600 in phones... but good to know that when my wife switches that I know what it wont be... I know blackberry and apple have great customer service.

USB 3.0

I've run into 3.0 issues galore over the years. Mostly on Dells so let's try something. Does the Samsung charger and this cable work or not?

No

The cable does not... To charge I have to use another cable... The USB 3 connector at the phone end is very sensitive to any movement at all even just trying to lay it down. Being brand new and told by Samsung that its not a technical issue I beg to differ. If you can't charge your device with the provided accessories then technically it does work. It might sound petty but when you come out with a new cable for a phone that you can't buy in any store...

I can buy Samsung cables in store and on Amazon.

Are you in some country that has limited access?

To me that's besides the point. I am seeing some USB 3 issues and shared only a little. Good luck in your quests and as you are discovering, the warranty may be spread among company, seller, vendor and more entities.

Accessories like charging cables have never been part of a cellular phone manufacturer warranty. This is an issue with the place where the device was purchased. The place you purchased the device will have to order the cable if they do not currently have it available, simple as that. Don't blame Samsung in this case. I do realize that the OP is not happy, but this is nothing new.
