samsungp2370not connecting in full HD to sony vaio

hi, i had recently bought samsung p2370ms monitor. I am connecting it to my sony FZ 35gn model vaio. it is connecting at 1200x800 but when i am increasing the resolution to full HD 1980x1080p it is not connecting,,the screen flickers and goes on/of reglarly. even the laptop shows the same thing. the laptop has nvideia 8400gt card 128 MB ram. with HDMI it is connecting but the alphabets looks blurry ..hazy not clear..even the pic is also not good....I had updated all the latest drivers sony has offered. ,,,kindly anyone help please
