Samsung YP-P2 garbled playback

Jun 10, 2009 8:08AM PDT

Our kids have a Samsung YP-P2 MP3 player that is exhibiting a strange problem. It occurs when playing both audio and video files. It's as if the settings have been placed in some kind of Dolby surround sound mode. The left and right channel information is clear and undistorted (for example, music and sound effects in movies), but what would be the center channel (for example, the dialog in movies) is faint and distorted. I confess I'm not very familiar with the unit (it belongs to the kids), but I could find no settings for this. I did a pin reset and also downloaded and installed the latest firmware version, but the problem continues. I called Samsung tech support; they were of little help. They said because it was out of warranty all I could do was take it to an authorized repair center. I'm wondering if someone here has a possible solution.
