SAMSUNG X50 FIRMWARE UPDATE MALFUNCTION. PLEASE HELP.

Feb 13, 2009 2:51PM PST

I tried to update the firmware and somehow the unit stopped working. it turns on and lets change functions and opens the tray. however, it does not play music, reads usb, or play movies. I say it is just the firmware that was on the samsung website as of thursday, february 12th. I don't know how, the update was removed from the samsung.com site and no explanaition was given.
Anyhow, i spoke with one of SAMSUNG reps and they said that the servicing would cost me 150 dollars for it.
It is just outrageous to try to charge so much money for a system that barely cost 200 when it was new and in the market. I think it was the update file that corrupted my system. i need you to tell me what is the solution to my problem as more people in other parts of america had the same problem.

Firmware

ivanjacome2003,

I don't know the firmware situation for that particular unit.

The unit is out of warranty, so I don't have a solution to propose. You may try calling 800-SAMSUNG and asking for the Escalated Consumer Relations Department.

ivanjacome2003,

ECR is above the regular service, and might be an avenue to explore in regards to the update. Call them and ask for that department, and explain your situation. Naturally, the decision rests with them, and I don't have a say in that. I don't control the firmware. I don't know who else could fix what went wrong, since I don't even know what's wrong.
