Question

Samsung Wifi problems

Mar 20, 2015 4:15AM PDT

I have a Samsung Note 4 and Galaxy S5 and both have wifi issues with my router in bridge mode. 3rd party apps like Facebook etc will not load or extremely slow. I also have iPhones, iPads, and HTC that works fine with router. I have tried everything and these Samsung phones won't work properly on wifi unless my router is off bridge mode. I even bought another router and it does the same thing. Due to my home security system, I have 2 routers and it has to be in bridge mode. Anybody else have similar issues? I will be dumping Samsung if I can't get it resolved.

OK, what if....

You use the 2nd router as a wap?

2nd router WAP

I considered that until I realized the Ethernet ports disabled on 2nd router which shut off access to my security cameras when I turned bridge mode off. I also read it will conflict with 1st router?. I know my situation is a little unique. I like Samsung phones, but that's a pretty big flaw they've overlooked IMO.

Something odd there.

I've setup some 100+ of the second router as a WAP that it must be one oddball 2nd router. The fear I have is you'll repeat all this with your Samsung replacement. Not one chained router system I know of works well.

Anyhow I'll accept your finding and say that something truly odd is going on.

Maybe you want to tell more about this bridge mode. Some folk want the security camera to be directly on the Internet. I use a different setting for that. I put the camera in the DMZ entry. I take it that your suppliers are not sharing how to solve this.

PS. I wonder if you meant the WAN port disable.

I can only guess your setup. But my background includes engineering and design of CCTV and IP camera systems. When we use a second router there are only a few setups that work. Using the WAN port on a second router is a clear miss and some folk write that off as a flaw. You can't help them for now.

For the second router as a WAP that's on the web so I'll keep is short. We don't use the WAN port but the LAN port. The other LAN ports are still good.

I finally got it work

Bob, You're a life saver!

I don't have the option to connect routers LAN to LAN because I don't have access to first (COX) security router and routers need to be separate. I gave it another shot and connected them LAN to WAN with bridge mode off and made some adjustments to my security cameras and finally got it all to work. The Samsung phones are working on WIFI now and security cameras are online. Thanks for putting in the time to give me some input. Thank you!
