Resolved Question

Samsung: User Friendly or Not?

Sep 3, 2013 7:45PM PDT

Hi,

I recently upgraded from an old Nokia C1, which I found very user friendly, to a Samsung Duos GT-S7562, 4.0.4 Android.

At this stage I'm finding the Samsung no where near as user friendly! I realise it's still early days, and I'm trying to be patient.

I liked Nokia's sms folder arrangement, i.e. "inbox", "sent" etc. The Samsung doesn't seem to have this. Also, I liked the to-do list on the Nokia; again, Samsung doesn't seem to have this.

The Samsung user manual is very basic and not much help.

Is it the product or am I just very green?

Also, can I download an app that has a to-do list, and an app for organising sms messages, etc?

Thanks in advance.
VG

Thanks Guys!

Thanks for your replies.

I found an "app" that works just great. It's called "my 20 year old niece"!!! Shocked)

In two minutes she showed me what I could never have learned in 100 years.

Pepe, I looked at that sms app link and it looks like what I need. Unfortunately, my phone isn't a supported device. Maybe i'll upgrade again soon to something better.

Thanks again for helping an old guy.

Answer
I'm going with, not the product.

Since the SMS app can be replaced with other apps, you may find an app you like better.

And I've tried using the manuals on many phones and came away with the finding that the manual must have been for another version. When I asked for a manual (online or in any form) that matched I was met with dumb looks to "I got nothing".

The days of documentation seem to be long gone so that's gone, gone and gone. Don't count on today's products to have much there.

It's a change in how things are made, sold and supported. And a change in that apps can be swapped out if you don't like what they gave you. And since you can swap apps, the maker feels no remorse the stock app is carp.
