Samsung UN60F7100 Questions!

by ectohybrid / July 28, 2013 1:00 AM PDT

I actually have the Samsung UN60F7050AF but it is the same LED as the UN60F7100. It just came with a keyboard and was purchased at Sams Club.

I have video and audio going through my Yamaha receiver. I only have one HDMI cable going from the receiver to the Samsung HDMI -1 input.

I currently have an Oppo 93 Bluray player, Roku 2, Verizon FIOS box. When switching the inputs on the Yamaha receiver it will switch no problem. The problem is:

1. a pop up will come up from the Samsung as an overlay (meaning I can see the function of what I want to watch in the background, and still click around- it is not locked on the pop up, but the pop up covers most the screen.)..the pop up reads: Check the device is connected properly-then try turning on the device by selecting the button below. (which is STB and under it OK)
This annoying pop is intermittent (happens about 70% of the time when switching inputs on the receiver) and goes away on its own after 45 seconds. Is there any way to turn this notification off in the TV Settings?

2. When the screen is black with white titles, or a black screen with some other writing - it appears dim. Where in the settings can I take this off so that it is not dim with black background and lettering? (like titles-credits etc)

3. I am experiencing some jitter from time to there a way to get rid of or minimize this.

This worked on question 1.

What was happening was I had the HDMI in HDMI -1 on the Samsumg. This is marked "STB" on the TV imput. Whenever I switched to another input via the Yamaha receiver and Harmony remote- the Verizon box would shut off (as it should) --this is what was causing this. (the power off on the STB) Switching the HDMI on the TV to HDMI 2 solved this problem. Thanks!

3. Jitter.

Now this one is a reach for me. There are judder controls and more to the new sets that do motion smoothing. Why this is a tough one is personal preference as well as how much a person can tolerate the new digital video issues play up to a hard to solve because everyone is different.

OK, with that out of the way I just turn off all the motion processing. I'm sure there are more judder controls but do try them. From what I've seen, lower settings tend to not show this as much. But it's a Pandora's box in my opinion.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
