Hi kevs888,
Sorry to hear about the trouble this has been. Please ensure the home theater is connected to HDMI Port 2 on the TV, as that's the ARC-enabled port. Also, turn on Anynet+ to have ARC enabled. Let me know what the results are, if you will.

I've had a Samsung UN60ES8000 for almost 2 months now and the speakers are terrible because it's hard to hear with speakers in the rear.
I went ahead and purchased a Samsung HT-E6500W, thinking that coupling the TV with a Home Theater system of the same manufacturer would make everything work great.
After setting it up, I'm finding that, when I play video through the USB port in my TV, the Home Theater system disconnects, leaving me only with video.
I plugged the USB drive into the Home Theater's USB and it works perfectly. However, I'll have a USB drive sticking out and it interferes with my cabinet door.
Why can't the USB Video files on my TV's USB ports play with audio through my Home Theater system?
Thanks in advance.
