Samsung UN60C6300 does not work with Sony STR-DG820

Oct 9, 2010 1:12PM PDT

When Samsung TV HDMI input is connected to Sony Amplifier HDMI output there is no picture from the TV and no audio from the Amplifier. If the DVD player connected to the Amplifier is moved to the TV input (bypassing the amplifier) - the TV works. But, then I don't have surround sound. My only option seems to be to return the TV. There is no problem if I use my old Sony TV, I'll probably buy a Sony 60-inch TV.

hexagonbob,

Replacing it won't help if the Amplifier isn't able to pass the signal. Do you know what the minimum and maximum resolutions are that can pass-through the receiver?

In some cases, with DVD players, try changing it from 480i to 480p to see if that will help.

What connection cables are you using for inputs from the DVD player, and to the TV?

Text from the Sony site:
"If the serial number of your STR-DG820 multichannel A/V receiver falls with the 4770001 to 4775350 range, you may have an affected unit. If, however, there is also a green or blue round sticker next to the unit's model number label, your unit is not one of the affected units.

Should your serial number fall within the above noted range and there is no blue or green round sticker beside the model number label, please contact Sony's Customer Information Centre at 1-877-899-7669 to determine whether your unit is affected. If so, Sony will arrange, free of charge, to collect your unit and have a firmware update installed to address this issue. Your unit will then be returned to you. Please allow 2 weeks. "
