Samsung UN55C8000 - Everytime start tv it goes into setup

by AltecBX / May 29, 2010 7:10 PM PDT

Everytime I start tv after 30 minutes of being off it starts in setup mode. It ask what language, store or home mode, and tuner channels. This is the second 55c8000 I have. I returned the other one after it always going into dynamic mode after 10-15 min of watching tv. I would do the vol trick of switching over from store to home use but it would stll switch over to store(dynamic mode). How can I prevent this from happening with my new tv. I updated to firmware 19 on both screens.

Another problem I'm having is that I don't get Dolby digital to my receiver from the tv. I have an optical cable connected to my receiver but can only get 2.1 sound. I only get PCM option as the Dolby digital I'd greyed out. Only way to get my center and surround speaker to work is to hook up my DVD player, TiVo, ps3 is directly to my receiver. How can I fix this issue as well?

Thankd

AltecBX,

I'm looking into this issue. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer as to why that would be happening. I would recommend calling 800-SAMSUNG to have your set inspected by a technician, or work with the retailer to see about resolving the issue with a solution that works best for you.

I wish I could help, but I don't know what would be causing this issue.

same problem here, possibly more info

I'm having the same issue... it only started after I connected the TV to our network and updated the firmware, so it seems like it should be related to that. Not sure how to see the current firmware version or if there is a simple way to revert back to my previous firmware version?

fixed!

Reseting the TV to factory default settings fixed this. Hold the exit key on the remote for 10 seconds, and an option to revert to factory settings will pop up. Choose this and you're all set. You do lose all other settings which is a minor pain, so if you really like how you have everything else set up you might want to write some of the settings down.

Setup mode

My UN55C8000 does the same. At times, I can not get it out of setup. Also, the backlight goes out. Tech has been to house and can't figure it out. We are waiting for Samsung tech Support to respond.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
