Samsung UN48JU6400 - BD Syncing Issues

Feb 29, 2016 2:44PM PST

Has anyone had any issues with UHD TVs - specifically the Samsung type above - not syncing properly with BD? In particular, I have noticed bad syncing on several musicals, such as the West Side Story 50th Anniversary Edition. I have watched this before on other HDTVs and never noticed bad syncing. It was out of sync (and continued to fall further out of sync) only during songs, primarily the Jets songs like Cool Boy and the Jet Song, as well as Tonight.

Always call this in.

All this is bleeding edge stuff so you call it in for a fix and if they can't fix it, start returning gear.

They usually have you check firmware and do a factory reset so if you have custom color settings, be sure to have those ready to restore later.

Additional Info

So here's some additional info about my rig, and as I work at odd hours and cannot call Samsung Customer Service directly, I hope there is someone here who can help me out.

I have a Samsung TV as mentioned above. The BD player is an all-in-one combo, a Sony BDV-E3100. I have that connected by HDMI to the TV, so the picture is going by HDMI, and the sound is running directly off the receiver/BD.

Here's where it gets a little funny. When I have the picture set to Movie with my own personal settings, that's when I have the lip sync issue. And it's not consistent. It's not every song in West Side Story, it's not every voice in every movie I see. It seems to be primarily male voices that get the most out sync - such as the character of Skinner is often out of sync on my X-Files Blu-Rays.

If I set it to Game Mode, most of the sync issues go away, but I don't like the way the TV looks in Game Mode, even with all the settings matched up to my previous specs. Is there anyone who has any knowledge of this Sony rig and how to make it line up with the TV? I never had this problem with an HDTV, only with this new UHD.
