Question

Samsung un46EH6000f tv

Aug 21, 2018 11:42AM PDT

I Have a un46eh6000f TV that will not power on sometimes. If you leave it unplugged for an hour and plug it in the ir red light will come on and the TV will power on with the remote. Unplug and then plug the TV in and the ir red light briefly flashes and goes out and the TV will not power on. As you unplug the TV the ir red light will briefly come on. you say well just leave it plugged in, but at some point the TV quits working without unplugging it. could it be the ir/remote sensor board or the main board?

Answer
Sounds like heat.

Give the vents and such a going over with canned air. Try a small fan blowing at the back of the unit.

I think it may be more than heat. The back is off the tv. The TV has been unplugged for a couple of hours and when I plugged it in just now it will not power on. Thanks

Then it's off to the service manual.

Most service manuals cover the no power up problem. Check with www.samsungparts.com for that manual. Without the manual and the unit on the test bench I will guess badly but you have the set so you can pair it with the manual plus other information to see which board is suspect. Also, try it without the LED strips plugged in as that can cause the usual power up failure.
