Question

Samsung UN40F6300 backlighting issue

Jul 9, 2017 8:37AM PDT

I went away for the weekend and was positive I turned the tv off. Came back and it was on, with the top 1/4 part of the screen darker than the rest. Slowly how screen has been getting a little less bright since then so I opened it up to look at the backlights- top 3 of the 7 led strips were not lighting up so I switched the strips around- again only bottom 4 would light top three are not working. Weird thing is after switching them around they are all brighter now than before moving them around. If the strips are working in other spots then what would cause the top three spots to not work or not have power? How can I fix this? Thanks

Answer
Since you are doing this yourself.

Check out youtubes about this and parts are on ebay and shopjimmy.com. You'll need a Volt meter to sniff out if it's the strips or the supplies.

Testing Led strips

Well I had switched around some of the led strips and like I said the ones that weren't initially lighting up worked fine in other slots and vice versa- I assumed that meant the led strips themselves were not the issue. Am I wrong?

Sounds like the power source is the issue. Or connections

There are Youtubes about this work and the service manual is at samsungparts.com but many skip that and buy a new LED power source.

Do you mean replacing the power board? Thanks

Sorry no.

Without a service manual we can't guess the exact parts to be replaced. I don't know why techs try to work on sets without a service manual. I insist on the manual because without it I'm going to guess badly.
