Samsung UN40EH5300F - power ON problem

by deepak_kr3 / September 14, 2013 1:59 PM PDT

I have 40 inch Samsung LED Smart TV, I bought it from USA and using in India. Model Number - UN40EH5300F. I am having power problem in the TV. Power light is continuously ON when TV is OFF, which is good. When I try to switch ON the TV using remote or button available in TV, power light starts blinking but TV doesn't turn ON. Sometime it works perfect and we can watch TV without any problem for hours. But having this issue frequently now.

After following the solution proposed by Samsung, were you able to get the TV working? Also, what are the steps you took to make this TV work in India?

Hi deepak_kr3,

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Unfortunately, this sounds like it may need servicing. Here's the thread where you can get details on setting that up: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-542437/service-issues-click-here-for-help/. Being that this is a US model TV in India, you can contact the India support to see if they can perform the repair. If not, the TV will need to be sent to the US for repair.

Regards,
HD Tech

I checked with the Samsung Customer Care for televisions in India and they recommended to use a PAL to NTSC converter (for color system) and also a voltage stabilizer (to convert 110 to 220V).

As far as I understand techguru's answer ...
by Kees_B Forum moderator / December 7, 2013 11:31 PM PST

he says Samsung advises to buy two additional devices:
1. A PAL to NR+TSC converter.
2. A voltage stabiliser to convert 110V to 220V.

If you have any doubts or questions, why not ask your local Samsung tech support yourself?

Raaj, whatever Kees has mentioned above, that's correct. You need to buy a PAL to NTSC converter (you will get it in India I believe), in US, you can get it easily. Along with this, you will have to buy a voltage stabilizer to convert 110V (in US) to 220V (in India). That should resolve the issue.

If the set is from USA
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / December 8, 2013 8:18 AM PST

It's rare to see 220 V USA HDTVs. I'd check the model again for what it needs.

Thats correct....

There aren't any TVs in USA which is 220V. So, the voltage stabilizer should be bought in India only. However, the converter would be available in US also.

Thanks,
Guru
