Question

Samsung UN22D5003BF

Apr 12, 2012 9:01AM PDT

I just bought a new samsung 22'' led tv, I'm not tech savvy at all and I should've looked more carefully because I just assumed it would have a headphone jack and audio outputs. Listening through headphones is a must for me, and all I can see in the rear is USB, 2x HDMI-in, ANT IN, a service, and component/av in. Is there anyway to make it work with headphones, maybe even something a bit unorthodox, or is the only way just to exchange it for something else? Thanks.

No audio outputs on Samsung 22"

Seems as though Samsung put all their tech juice into a good HD/1080 image, and orphaned the audio. I'm a sound junkie and the tinny audio quality from this TV makes me weep.

I bought a pair of speakers from Best Buy, only to discover that to change the volume you need to cross the room and turn the volume knob. The master speaker doesn't have a headphone jack.

I checked the Xfinity cable box: it doesn't have a headphone jack.

Just looked into the new Bose Solo system. It too has no headphone jack (Xfinity has an optical audio out so conceivably sound output would be as Bose intended, but without a headphone jack why invest $400 with Bose?)

The missing headphone jack baffles the mind. Would it increase the cost of the TV that much to provide one? Samsung, are you listening?? Bose, same question: what's the strategy behind not including a headphone jack in the Solo? You just lost a sale.

To your question. Yes it does.

I am lucky and involved with product design (not a company folk know about) and when they want to squeeze every penny out, everything has to go.

I am also lucky I can add said jack back in. I'm a big believer of modifying stuff that was close but only if it had this. It's a trivial addition but many of today's consumers never see a solder iron, wires and such.
