Question

Samsung UE49KS7000 and FULL HD

Aug 19, 2016 3:03AM PDT

Hi, it's better to view normal blu-ray, play playstation 3 games, pay TV full hd (then not 4k) on UE49KS7000, compared to a full hd tv? Now have a Samsung LE40B650T2W.

Thanks

Unsure about this.

You made a statement followed by a question mark.

Also, since "FULL HD" is somewhat of a non-standard, I'm going with you meant to call out 1080p (which is a common standard.)

Today, I send 1080p to UHD sets and let the TV do the upscale.

I hope you can clarify if there is a question here and what the question is.

With FULL HD i mean 1080p, is good the upscaling on UE49KS7000? Can i see 1080p sources with excellent quality? And the quality is better compared to a only FULL HD (1080p) tv?

There are plenty of articles about UHD and if it's "The Emperor's New Clothes" and one of my favorites is http://www.cnet.com/news/budget-tv-resolution-rumble-720p-plasma-vs-4k-led-lcd/

Now it's clear that if you move to withing a foot of the UHD the extra pixels pay off but for me I watch it at distances that don't pay off. Here's the CarltonBale article about distance and such.
https://carltonbale.com/does-4k-resolution-matter/

"What the chart shows is that, for a 84-inch screen, 4k resolution isn’t fully apparent until you are at least 5.5 feet or closer to the screen. For a “tiny” 55-inch screen, you’ll need to be 3.5 feet or closer. Needless to say, most consumers aren’t going to sit close enough to see any of extra resolution 4k offers, much less 8k."

Now what I am sold on is HDR which moves the color gamut back to Plasma days.
