Question

Samsung UE40D5520RK Smart TV

by belfairs / March 20, 2013 2:52 AM PDT

I have a Samsung UE40D5520 RV smart TV purchased in 2011.....I am happy with the overall performance of the TV but am unhappy with the smart hub side...I assumed that there would be apps added for 5OD and ITV player etc....however although the 5OD app is there it says I need to update my firmware.....I have updated to the latest firmware....103.0 but it still states that I need a firmware update....I have reset the hub to no effect....Please any suggestions would be gratefully received

Hi Bob.....I emailed channel 5 customer services 2 weeks ago and got no reply.....perhaps I will try again...as Samsung seem to direct any queries to the provider...although the firmware comes from samsung I think..

It's a deep matter to discuss how this works.

In reply to: 5OD app

It's a new world with the TV as a platform. It's a little like but then again not like a laptop with Windows. When an app fails there you usually don't ask the laptop maker or Microsoft.

Here we have a new system where apps are supplied to Samsung to either include in their firmware or be put on some App store.

But this breaks into new territory of who to complain to when an app fails. And it's not clear to consumers what to do or how this will all play out.

Hi belfairs,

Thanks for your message. But just so you know, I support US products and customers. And from what I can tell, this model is for UK. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) So if you want the most accurate information, here's the Samsung UK portal for support on that product: http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/UE40D5520RKXXU

Hope this helps you!

Regards,
HD Tech
