As stated in the user manual, this behavior is strictly expected.
The recorded files are DRM protected.
You can read them ONLY on the TV itself.
You won't be able to read them anymore if the TV mother board is changed in case of failure.
But you are happy because at least you can record...
I'm facing problem to record on a WD Passport 160GB (WDXMS1600TE), from a UE55C8700.
It does not format on the TV. It says "Cannot format"
Could you tell me the exect reference of your drive ?
I have boubht a new series 7 50" 3D plasma tv.
I've attached a WD 320Gig usb hard drive to it. I am able to record tv programs but wondered how i can get the movies i have on my pc onto this drive.
The drive is formatted by the TV into some kind of linux file system so my pc can't read it.
So although the media UI says i can select Recorded Programs, Movies or Music there doesn't appear to be anyway to place such files onto the drive (unless you have linux).
Can anyone tell me how i can drop my mp4 files onto the usb drive ?
