Samsung tv UN40EH6000F stopped working

Have had this tv for 19 months. Came home from work one day this week and it looked like tv was on. It was sort of a dark blue flickering screen. I assume this is the back light?Power light or standby light was not on. TV would not respond to remote or button on tv itself. Could not shut it off. Unplugged tv and when I plugged it back in the darkish blue screen immediately came on and after a minute or so it started flickering lightly. I pressed menu on remote and looked at screen with flashlight and saw nothing. Pressed all buttons on remote and the button on tv again, nothing. I unplugged tv and let is set all day and tried plugging it back in. Same result. I took tv apart and looked at the caps and none look bulged. I contacted Samsung and since it is out of warranty it is not covered. Tv didn't last 2 years! I have been researching the internet for days and haven't really seen this exact problem, most people have sound or standby light on or can shut it off by unplugging. I have ordered all 3 boards from shopjimmy.com. Does it sound like main board? Hopefully it is not the panel itself. Any help with this?

Problem was something on main board

Replaced the main board and tv is working as new. Did not do any component testing just replaced the whole board

When I work on such things I use what they call "service manuals." These have us measuring test point voltages and more. You seem to want diagnosis without the service manual so let's hope that the fault is in the boards.

No clicks or sound , just flickering blue screen. I'm not confident enough with a meter to test voltages and such. Just thought somebody might know if it sounds like something went bad on one of the boards and which one. I guess I could always start with the cheapest, which is the t-con board, and if it fixes it I can return the main and power boards without installing them. Looks like the boards are fairly easy to replace. Just was wondering which board to try first. With research it sounds like the main board but like I said I haven't seen this exact problem.

Whatever Bob, I'm not holding anybody responsible for information regarding which board to replace. I was just hoping someone might have an idea what would be causing this. I see posts all over this forum with possible solutions without having to diagnose with a meter. I am not a tech and wasn't necessarily looking for answers from one. Just a user who might have experienced this. That's fine if you can't help, maybe someone else might have some idea. Thanks anyway

The big board. But no tech I know would do that without the service manual and the measurements. It's a lot of work that could be avoided with just the basic TV tech tools.

Big board meaning main board?

When you say big board I assume you are you referring to the main board and not the power supply board correct? I have all 3 coming and I was just wanting to know which one to try first. I have already decided if none of these fix it I was going to purchase a new tv anyway. I would think having it looked at and serviced would cost more than $125 and that's what I paid for all 3. So I am just going to go this route and hope it fixes the problem.Thanks again

But without a service manual we can't get the terminology right either. I'm guessing from our back and forth you are trying it "shotgun style." And even then I guess I'm not being blunt enough. Sorry and apologies here but change and hope.

I don't think the service manual would even mention a "big board". Don't even think a tech would actually know which board that is. So you are right about the terminology thing. So I will go shotgun style and try to fix it. Sorry if I offended you any way, just trying to fix this boat anchor. Maybe I will hear from someone who has or had the same problem

Tipping my hand here as I owned/ran a few repair shops years ago. The methodology and more involves what I alluded to above. While repairing a few (too many in my case) computers, displays, printers, TVs and such over the decades does help me find my way around a lot faster I continue to require the service manual and such when I work on any device/system/TV.

I hear you loud and clear you want to avoid all that. You've loaded all the chambers and have pulled the trigger. Should be interesting how it turns out.
