It's a common issue. There are many issues that this could be from the worst being Samsung's code just doesn't like that drive to formatting and power issues.

Start with a simple FAT32 partition (one only!) then move to other issues like power. There is no single cause or cure. In some cases you will find a drive that a TV just won't work with.

These are all items that can interfere with use on a TV. You need the drive to be clean. No autobackup. No encryption. It must not require pressing that Quick connect button.
