Question

Samsung TV screeching screen crash

Feb 26, 2016 9:09AM PST

I turn the TV on and right after the ‘boot-up music’ the thing goes haywire—loud screeching (regardless of what the volume is set at) and crazy screen distortions with a green cast and fragments of what is supposed to be displayed. This goes on for 20-30 seconds before the TV turns itself off, then back on again. Some times it happens again on reboot, sometimes its fine.

Here’s a video of the chaos–notice when the video goes dark, the tv turned itself off.

I’m running brand new HDMI cables to a Roku, but if I yank the cable it cuts the signal and stops the crash.

Anyone else experience this? Any tips on where to start to troubleshoot this?

Thanks

Chad, were you able to discover the source of the problem?

My Samsung TV has the same issue and it has gotten progressively worse. It first occurred on HDMI inputs only some of the time, like in your case. Over the last few months the problem now occurs a majority of the time and also occurs for signals over the VGA (computer) connection.

Answer
Actually I've seen others on YouTubes and forums.

It's usually one of the boards inside. As this is not a TV repair forum, get estimates if OOW. (Out Of Warranty.)
