Question

Samsung Tv remote quit working ...and....

Dec 26, 2014 10:37PM PST

My remote doesn't work for the smart tv. My cable remote works to change channels etc for cable box and it turns off cable box. But the smart tv stays on. I found the "joystick" on bottom right but when I press it, the tv still doesn't go off. The right and left works for channels and volume. But It won't turn off TV. So 2 part question. ..... How to fix remote and how to turn off TV if joystick doesn't work.

Which model?

Also, all the sets I've seen have a power button on the set itself so has that failed too?

And always call those failures in.

Not sure the model. It is a 32 in Samsung smart tv I got from best buy. The button on the right lower corner underneath screen does work now for turning it on and off. As far as remote, I have changed batteries. Held power button. Held power button while changing batteries. And nothing. The remote won't do anything now.

It's either the remote or the IR-receiver and the logic behind it in the TV.

So my suggestion: take the remote with you to your nearest Samsung shop and let them try it on one of their models. If it doesn't work there either, most likely a new remote is the solution (however, make sure you can return it if it doesn't work with you).
