Question

Samsung TV remote control and touch panel problem

Aug 27, 2017 8:28AM PDT

Hello

My Samsung ue46c5100 TV is going crazy , it's no more controlable either with the remote control or touch panel , the problem started with the red led blinking very fast , like when you send a command with the remote control and the tv was stuck in demo mode and impossible to set up beacause menu and arrow keys on the remote control were doing any commands but not those i wanted, then i checked the remote control : changing batteries and check with a camera for unwanted command sent to the TV but it seem to work good . another problem is the touch panel on the TV which do not respond at all .

But now new problem ! : Each time i try to do something with the remote control it swithes off the TV !!

Any idea ?

THX

Clarification Request
Is this the one from 2010?

If so you are looking at a service call. Some claim it's the buttons or button board.

i bought it in 2009

The buttons can get stuck or fail

Causing very odd problems. At that number of years you have to decide if it's worth the repair bill. If this is one of those "touch" panels many find unplugging that board to be a workaround and just use the remote control.

Same board

Probleme is that the IR sensor and buttons are on the same board !

buttons are touch buttons they dont respond anymore !

Chances are high it's that board.

Again, get estimates as parts after this many years are not always available.

There is no free service manual so I use what I've seen on other models. In this case they didn't use 2 boards.

I think this a bad contact issue or soldering problem

Because i cleaned the connector on the IR board and cleaned and remake the solder on the other connector ( on motherboard ) and it seem to work again , check also the small resistor next to this connector

i suppose this probleme apear because at this time in france temp is about 35°C , and sun hit the TV throug the windows...

"Why do we call them connectors?"

In reference to how these fail. You often find simply unplugging and plugging it back in can cure a lot of these problems. You went to the next step which is great.
