I've been asking folk to reconsider getting the longest warranty they can on sets over 1K bucks.
I purchased a 50" TV (UN50HU6950F, Series WS02) on 1/24/15 and paid $1084.99 at the time. A few months ago it would not power on, the RED light would just blink. I did some research and quickly discovered this appears to be a common issue with many Samsung units. A Service Call is out of the question as combined Parts & Labor would outweigh the cost of purchasing the newer model or even less purchasing a different brand. Fixing it myself would still come close to the expense of a new unit as the boards and/or associated costs are expensive.
I also purchased a 60" Samsung TV on 8/2/13, which I paid about $2800 for. Not even 2 years later it suffered a similar issue, which cost me $585 to repair.
I contacted Samsung Customer Care explaining my situation in great detail. I ultimately spoke to a supervisor that offered nothing. I'm not at all happy with Samsung. I actually own a lot of their products and have been a loyal customer over the years but I'm quickly losing faith...
