Resolved Question

Samsung TV mute

Feb 16, 2015 8:26AM PST

Just purchased a Samsung TV (48H6350). I discovered that although I'm able to control all TV functions including all my external devices with both my Samsung and Cable box remotes, I'm unable to control mute and volume of audio because my audio is connected through the TV's "audio out" port. I don't want to use the crappy internal speakers, I need higher quality sound.

I get my high quality sound from my stereo (pre HDMI) through audio cables, but can't control mute from either the cable box remote or Samsung remote. I'm told by Samsung that the mute and volume control is only possible through an external Anynet+ device . . . only made, of course, by Samsung. Previous TVs didn't have this problem.

Does anyone have a workaround? Mute is one of the most important functions of any TV.

Thanks

Sadly true.

Rather that repeat prior discussions this is true for almost every Samsung TV made. Samsung decided to use "fixed level" audio on that output and while a grey haired tech or engineer could do something about it, everyone to date has gone up in flames over the very idea.

So it's true.
