Question

Samsung TV, Mod # LN32B360C5DXZA changes sound level

May 6, 2015 11:28AM PDT

I have a Samsung TV, Model # LN32B360C5DXZA, Serial # AZA43CDS904827A, Version; SG05. It works fine for days, and then the sound starts going up or down all on it's own. After a short time you can change the sound back with the remote, but sometimes you can't. Other times it starts changing channels on it's own, or goes through picture and sound settings. I have unplugged it over night, doesn't help. The only thing that helps is to turn it off, then hold the Menu and Source button on the side while turning the power back on. It is getting worse as time goes by.

Try pressing buttons....

I think this has the usual button board and there are reports of failing button boards. I always try the old unplug the TV and then firmly exercise the buttons on the set a few dozen times. If that clears it up I look into ordering that button board.

Also, be sure there are not a lot of remotes in the area and pop a fresh set in the remote.

I only use the button board when I have a problem with the remote. I have tried new batteries in the remote. I have tried taking the batteries out of the remote, and just use the button board.
We can go several days with no problems. Then while watching TV, and not using the remote or the button board, the sound level meter comes up on the screen, and the sound level starts to change. Sometimes it only changes a couple of numbers, then goes off for a long time. At other times it goes all the way to 0. Sometimes as it's going down we can override it with the remote, and sometimes we can't. A few days ago the TV was working fine when we shut it off at night. The next morning when I turned it on, it was changing channels, going through all the channels over and over. That's when I turned it of, then held the source and menu buttons on the side of the TV while I turned it back on. That stopped the channel rolling. I suspect something in the TV is going bad.

I found where others were having the same problem, and the button was the problem. I will disconnect it when I get a chance, and see if that works. Thanks!
