Samsung TV loses picture

by jjoyce1971 / March 3, 2009 10:47 AM PST

I have a Samsung flat screen tv with model #: LN37A55OP3F

It was purchased Nov 2008. The sticker on the back says manufactured October 2008

while watching tv through comcast cable, the picture regularly disappears. I can still hear the sound. The only way I have been able to correct it is to shut off tv and turn it back on again.

Cable box..
by Samsung_HD_Tech Samsung staff / March 4, 2009 8:20 AM PST

jjoyce1971,

In mose cases, those picture drops are a result of the handshake between the cable box and the television. If you turn off the cable box and turn it back on, it also should restore the picture.

Keep me posted.

Turning off cable box doesn't work long term

In reply to: Cable box..

Hi,

I turned the cable box on and off and it does help in the short term. But a 1/2 hour or hour later it does it again.

I checked the security of the connections and they all seem secure.

This never happened with my previous tv.

Do you think this is a Comcast issue?

Thanks for your help,
Jennifer

Turning off cable box doesn't work long term

jjoyce1971,

It could be the box, or the television. As much as a redundant (obvious, right?) statement as that is, in many cases the box itself has a high protection setting. If you're convinced the box is working, then you might consider calling to have your television serviced. This is never the fun option, but if your picture keeps cutting out, then we should probably get that fixed.

In many cases, swapping the box does the trick, and is usually the more painless of the two options, so most people use that as a way to either fix the problem, or isolate it to the television. It doesn't work every time, and if that's the case, then it's likely the connection inside of the television.

Keep me posted.

My Samsung does the same thing...I am putting my Comcast cable box through a Replay though. What I have noticed is that it does not do it when I am playing my X-Box. Mine does not reset if I turn the replay off, but does reset temporarily when I turn the TV off and then back on. Is this the TV or perhaps the ports I am using to connect to the Replay?

did you fix it?

Did you replace the t-con board? Did you find the problem?
