Question

Samsung TV LN46A550P3FXZC Keeps clicking .

Aug 4, 2015 8:04PM PDT

Hi All,
I know as soon as some of you read the subject you will automatically think Capacitors are the issue, Well this one is alittle different , I open the back all capacitors are fine , after research and you tube it suggested that my power supply was gone. I got another one and installed it same problem clicking as soon as i plug it in and about every 8 seconds or so. The blue light comes on and the red light is flashing, any ideas as to what might be the problem or has anyone else had this occur , looking forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Answer
Is this from 2008?

If so, as a TV Tech you also check backlight shorts. Here's an example for another model. You'll need the service manual (about 12 bucks when they publish them.)

No if you respond that you didn't get audio either then I have to write you are not a TV tech so don't be upset about that. All sorts arrive here. All you did was swap one of the dozen parts it could be. You as a TV tech know to get the service manual and keep swapping your highest suspect parts.

Hi Thanks for your response , I am not a tv tech just a guy trying to fix his tv lol.
I have nothing when I plug the tv on just a clicking sound every 8-10 seconds I will try and get the manual and read through some of it , and yes this is a 2008 model.
Cheers

There seems to be more TV repair talk for average folk

Over at AVS Forum. You have to be careful since folk that demand a correct diagnosis get flamed. Diagnosing takes a bench, service manual, spares and test gear. If you want to swap boards, that's fine too but some get uppity that no one diagnoses it and stands behind the diagnosis in a forum. I can only hope you know why.

In the service manual it should have test points to measure and most have a troubleshooting flowchart.
