Samsung TV caught fire

Just here 2 rant. Me and my family were huge Samsung fans, up until a week ago. Me and my wife were watching TV on our 4 year old Samsung hdtv, we heard a loud pop, saw smoke pouring out and a small fire behind the TV. The fire went out about 3 second after we noticed it but smoke continued pouring out. I unplugged the TV and called Samsung. Their response is they don't care. Worried about my Samsung 60 inch that is hanging on my wall. Can't believe Samsung response, I will not be buying anymore Samsung products. Thanks for hearing me out.

Burning overheated tv

Hello.
My 6200 series tv started burning today and the tv poped and shut off. It’s 3 years old and they told me it’s (out of warranty!) My tv almost started on fire today with children in the house. Luckily I was home. All I had to do was get on the internet to see this is a huge issue with their products. After getting off the phone with this horrible company I was told to call a repair center. Unbelievable! They need to take
accountability for their defective products. I’m very disappointed and will be looking into a lawsuit.

Samsung hdtv on fire

Just wanted to update every1 on the situation with my Samsung hdtv that caught fire. Samsung refused 2 take responsibility of their product. They are not doing anything, so beware if ur buying Samsung hdtv. Check online, these stories are out there about their TVs smoking. My suggestion is 2 go with another company if ur in the process of buying a new TV. I'm buying a new one this week, any suggestions on what brand I should go with

charred power supply board

Sounds like ours....I opened it up and found the power supply board charred with clear evidence of fire. Samsung's response: Here's a local repair shop - go pay for it yourself.
- Collapse -
I wonder if it was in warranty?

That's a typical failure I've seen on so many boards. Not all were TVs.

I think folk new to electronics repair will think "this blew up, they should fix it"?

- Collapse -
probably not in warranty...

well...yeah...it blew up - they SHOULD fix it! You're telling me that there isn't a fuse that they could add in there to trip before something like this happens? Maybe I'm naive, but shouldn't a company stand by their product - for their own reputation's sake? If someone is spending $1000 - $2000 on a TV, it better damn well last more than 5 years.

- Collapse -
I've heard that a lot over the years.

But unless it's in warranty it's rarely happens. I am seeing more folk yelp about paltry warranties and some remember the 7 to 10 year color tube warranties long ago. To get the prices down to the range you noted, the designs are for the most part 5 year designs. Cell phones are 2 year designs and I see some PCs to edge down to less than 5 years MTBF.

If you go back a decade that set was closer to 10K. Progress?

Anyhow, I always suggest long warranties on expensive things. I opted for a 7 year warranty on our new car. Excessive? Outside of recalls and class action wins, if it breaks outside the warranty, we pay to repair.

In your case I'd shop for a new board. Could be cheap to fix. Try Shopjimmy.com

Trim melting on 49" HDTV

I bought a 49" smart TV 11-11-16. On 11-14-17 the video goes out suddenly in a big way. The trim around the screen in the lower right corner also became hot enough to melt. After contacting Samsung tech help immediately and then extensive and numerous contacts with Samsung corporate, all I got was a 'too bad, you're on your own: it's three days out of warranty'. So I spent $500 for one year of TV viewing. Samsung is junk. I recommend maybe spending a few bucks more and getting something worth your while.

Samsung Several Pops and a Plume of Smoke

Just today (June 27,201Cool turned my Samsung 46" LCD on and heard 4-5 LOUD firecracker type "pops" followed by 5-10 seconds of white smoke. Became of course very concerned. Pulled the plug out and fortunately no real fire that I could see occurred ( but of course something caused that smoke). Samsung gave the typical Corporate speak - we are sorry for your bad experience -customer satisfaction is very important to us - some more blah blah blah but kinda like hey buddy its out of warranty. I too thought Samsung was a quality product but a tv lasting less than 7 years with normal use.? I wrote to them and said if customer satisfaction is so important to you how 'bout a substantial Samsung credit?

Samsung caught fire

My Samsung television caught fire today. Samsung has already fixed this television once. My television started to flicker on and off then I noticed a burning smell and back of television melted. Called customer service they did not seem very concerned but asked if anything else caught on fire. Suppose to call me back.

Over heating issue

I had a similar problem. My 2 and half year old 40" Samsung TV developed lines through the screen 2 days ago. Their response sarcastic response was "you know it's no longer in warranty, right." After being on for a half an hour, I smelled something smoldering hot. As I was looking for where the smell was coming from, I realized it was the TV. I unplugged it and found a hot spot on the left edge of the screen. Luckily I caught it before a fire started. I'm done with Samsung!

Samsung TV Melting

My less than 3 year old Samsung started smoking and melting last weekend. Technician was here, took pictures and sent it to Samsung. They are declining my claim and declining to fix it as they state it is caused by physical damage on my part. BOGUS. The technician was even surprised they didn't approve a replacement screen. But ... the technicians are only supposedly here to take pictures and not make any commentary to sway Samsungs decision. Funny as the tech was on the horn with Samsung rep, she had told the technician to take her off of speaker phone before they gave their opinion. I find it funny how so many people coincidentally did "damage" to their TVs for this to take place. Samsung needs to take ownership of this problem, just like they did regarding the Note 7!!!! Done and will not stop fighting Samsung on this issue!

Samsung TV on fire

Today as I was at home with my 2 year old, she’s watching tv and while washing the dishes i smell something was burning so I ran to the living room and saw our samsung TV burning from the left bottom corner eating all the way up the tv.. I was lucky to caught it before it burns the whole tv and our home.. Thank God! I wonder what should I do? It looks like it’s something that they should already know... it’s not safe to have this.. was there a class action lawsuit for this already?

55" Samsung 3D HDTV started smoking

Yeaterday morning i noticed my TV was off so I tried turning on withtge remote but nothing happened. I then tried to turn on manually but nothing no click sound or anything. Baffled i looked at surge and light was amber so i shut it off then on again and immediately iheard the normal sound TV makes when it turns on. No picture nothing within a few seconds heard unusual sound from TV then i seen smoke barrel out of top middle of the back of TV screen?? Freaked and shut surge off it continued to smoke for a minute or two no fire happened but it scared me. Think TV is 4 yrs old or when 3D TV was new I cant remember. What causes this? Is it fixable hate to toss out a $3,500 TV? HELP

Fire Hazard

I have a Samsung 50" Class Smart LED TV - UN50J6200 TV and it was purchased in October 2015. The lower left hand corner melted and the TV is inoperative. This happened last night with the TV turned OFF while the TV was fine in the morning hours of yesterday when last used.

This is a definite fire hazard and after researching this online this morning, I can see it is a common problem and Samsung has been aware of it for years. This TV and other models affected should be recalled. I want a refund or exchange TV (non-fire hazard model please). That's only fair seeing (Samsung) has known about this issue and failed to warn consumers or recalled their defective product. Do the right thing, Samsung. Consumers could be hurt or even die from these defective TVs.

My 55 in Samsung could have caused a lot of damage

This past week I had been smelling a burning, seemed like an electrical smell. I checked all over and couldn’t discover it. And since we had had good weather and the windows were open I assumed it was coming from outside. Little did I know it was my tv. But today, the tv popped a few times, clicking like it was going on and off. It stopped for a bit and then a bit later it clicked again like it was being turned off and and on and then poof... off and a burning smell very strong. I immediately unplugged the tv. The back of the tv where the power entered the set was destroyed and melted. I’m just glad I was in the room to make sure a fire didn’t start, or cause damage. In reading about customer service with Samsung, I doubt I will be getting anywhere with them. Will not be getting their product again.

My Glasstop Range Exploded!!!

It has been a week now since my glass top range exploded while my daughter was cooking. It was the front right burner that she was cooking on whenever she heard a cracking sound followed by the burner starting to bubble. Then she heard the glass shatter and start popping when a flame shot up through the glass.

All of this and Samsung still has not rectified the situation. I must say that I’m very disappointed! Up until this point, all of my electronics or Samsung! Refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer, all of my TVs… Samsung! After this experience, they will never get my business again!
