Question

Samsung TV and soundbar issue

Feb 27, 2016 11:04PM PST

New Samsung JU7500 TV and Sony HT-XT1 soundbar both connected via ARC using 1.4 compliant cable. Working on initial setup but turn TV off and back on again and no sound from soundbar. Tried optical connection with similar result. Indications are that sound is being sent from TV but not emitted from soundbar. Have gone thru soundbar setting but maybe missed something. What I can't understand is that it works on initial connect but won't after TV turned off. Would appreciate any help.

Is the firmware completely up to date on the television?

If so, please try factory resetting the television, and let me know if the symptoms persist.

Many thanks for helping me with this. Firmware is up to date and a complete factory reset had everything working as it should with sound ex soundbar on "receiver". Turned the TV off waited 30 minutes turned it back on and no sound from soundbar on "receiver". Has me stumped.

Soundbar

After weeks of searching for a solution to this issue I finally discovered the answer and if it will assist owners of Sony HT-XT1 soundplates mated to latest Samsung TV's I will explain what is needed to have the Samsung remote turn the soundplate off and ON when both connected via ARC.
The Sony manual does explain that if any TV other than a Sony is connected then HDMI-P function needs to be turned from AUTO to ON to enable the remote to turn the soundplate on each time the tv is turned off.
HDMI-P can be found by turning on the soundplate with the soundplate remote, press menu and under HDMI find P-THRU (pass thru). change the default setting (AUTO) to ON.
My deep appreciation to all you guys who contribute to these forums for without your help my head would be total devoid of hair and TV destroyed by now.
