Resolved Question

Samsung Tele stopped working after software update!!

Jul 30, 2011 5:13AM PDT

Hi,
We have had this Samsung LE32B450C4W for just over a year. The red button function stopped and I thought the the software might need to be upgraded/updated. I have visited the Samsung website and downloaded the relevant firmware. I followed the steps in the enclosed guidance, which are not very sophisticated and pretty straight forward. The next thing the television switched itself off and never worked again. The little LED red light seems to respond to the remote control but there is no sound or picture at all. Any advice will be appreciated!

Samsung liability for damages resulting from updates!
Jul 30, 2011 8:12AM PDT

Thanks Bob,
The Tele was given to us as a present from my parents in law and do not really know when/where they bought it. I will try and find if receipts are available.
The question is whether Samsung do take a responsibility for their software and potential damages that may occur along the way.

Sorry but do you need tech support or legal?
Jul 30, 2011 8:14AM PDT

If you want to go down the legal path then it's no longer a tech support issue and you get shuttled to the legal department.

I hope you understand and accept your choices here.
Bob

PS. Good questions but I'm not found of lawyers.

The Ambassador always tries to help.

You may have to call it in, get the TRANSACTION NUMBER and add that to your top post along with the COUNTRY. These small details help the Ambassador who tends to take the weekends off.

I can't answer your question but most folk do try to help out if the firmware was the cause.

Contacted Samsung. They advised to take it the tele to their nearest "contracted" and approved service centre, and request a report of the fault. The charge for this was £36.00. Samsung said that this is not going to be covered by them as the tele passed its 12 months warranty period. I did and enclosed the USB stick which I used to update the software. 10 days later, we were called to collect with the tele in a working order at no extra cost! I did not collect it myself to ask the engineer. we were told that they needed to reboot something and that it wasn't a major fault. The tele is in an excellent condition and the red button function is working! I could but did not pursue Samsung for the £36.00. Thanks Bob.
