what do the manuals tell you? Do you have a Cable or Satellite receiver too? Do you want to watch tv sometimes w/out turning on the receiver? On certain Samsung models,HDMI does not pass true 5.1 surround. Regardless,DVD player has to go thru receiver,or you will have delay problems. Easiest is not always best either. I personally run fiber optic(because of the shortage of HDMI inputs on the BACK of the tv) from my tv TO the receiver,w/cable box IN to tv via HDMI. DVD IN to receiver, receiver OUT to tv. Your cable remote can be programmed to turn on the tv,but not your receiver.Your Samsung remote(s)won't turn on your cable box...so multi remotes.

Here's my setup
Sep 4, 2009 4:48AM PDT

My setup
HDTV Samsung LN46A650 to PS3 via HDMI*
PS3 connected to Home theater HT-x715t via Digital optical
Samsung Home Theater HT-x715t TV via HDMI**

* HDMI 2 which will show as only HDMI/DVI 2 on your source list
** HDMI 1 which will additionally show as HDMI Anynet on the source list

For Netflix streaming video, I also connect my laptop via a VGA cable (which comes up as PC) and to get sound use the headphone/microphone jacks on the latop/home theater respectively.

Two issues I have found:

- Intermitten rear speaker problem but I think this is an issue with the SWA-4000 wireless component. I have a related post so perhaps you can compare your experience:
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-13973_102-0.html?messageID=3119450#3119450

- When I use the PS3 the source for the TV is HDMI/DVI 2 and the sound is Digital on the theater unfortunately this frequently causes either the theatre or the TV to turn off as result of the Anynet compatibility. I also experienced a problem when I want to play the music through the home theater... It just didn't seem possible to have it play without having the HDTV on too. Although this sounds bad actually the Anynet often saves me having to hunt down the other remote and in fact sometimes its seems to do the impossible like using the TV control for the volume even when it the ps3 showing the blu-ray.

Hope this helps
