I've learned to run the SMART status and not much else. Firewalls, antivirus and more can cause those dips. But then again folk run other than stock setups, registry cleaners and then you have the malware and other issues.
It's come down to me being a sleuth but in this case all that's left is to ask you keep telling more. Also the Windows 7 forum might be more ontarget along with posts in game forums.

So, lately I've been noticng more and more 'small freezes' while playing games such as WoW, Deathspank (games which load stuff while walking)
I though it might of been my HDD that was causing this and I ran a HDtune, I got the following:

Not exactly good but I had some background programs like firefox on so I rebooted and did another:

Not any better. At All.
This time, I went to device manager and enabled "enable cache" on the marvell driver (it's already on at the Disk drive itself) http://i55.tinypic.com/av5rgo.png
Rebooted and did HD tune twice again : http://i55.tinypic.com/sglqg8.png
Didn't get better.

So what I really want to know is why I am getting these peaks? They are obviously the reason some of my games stutter (those peaks are probably the freezes/stutters)
