Question

Samsung SoundConnect w / M7 speakers

Dec 25, 2014 3:03PM PST

Hi,
I own a Samsung F8500 tv and I'm trying to connect 2 M7 Shape speakers to the TV via SoundConnect. I haven't had any problems connecting 1 speaker, but have been unable to sync up 2. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? Every time I get in touch with tech support, the person that I speak to has no clue.
Thanks for your help

Answer
A quick look seems to show it's for one connect only.

To connect to two I'd need to find a new way such as audio to some wireless audio links then to those speakers. My bet is that they have no clue because it looks like it was designed to send to one audio system not more.

PS. To clarify

The speakers look to be multiroom ready but the source device is not.

Thanks for the reply Bob, the TV shows two SoundConnect connections for each speaker, but I'm only able to switch between the two with only one playing at a time. All the ads for these speakers show two speakers connected to the TV, did Samsung think that people would just hook up 1 speaker to a large screen TV. Unbelievable!!!

This is the manual that I received with the M7 speakers. The speakers are operational by using an IOS or Android app. I did find a line in the manual that stated that only one speaker can use SoundConnect. Who would have known!!!
Thanks again Bob for making this clearer .

It was a little misleading to me.
Dec 26, 2014 2:09AM PST

I read it and it read as if you set up the multi-room in the APP (never found how to do this any other way) then in the APP you could tell it to source sound from SoundShare.

It's such a convulated setup that I bet no one at a support desk will be able to walk you through it. Maybe it can, maybe it can't.

The source can be chosen from both speakers within the app, but if SoundConnect is chosen for one speaker, you're unable to pick it for the other. Your only option is to choose which speaker that you want sound from, depending on the placement. I can't find a work around for it.

Workaround is to get wired or use other media transports.

The thing that is crazy with the app is that I have a turntable plugged into the aux of one speaker and can group the speakers together within the app and get sound from both, but it can't be done with the TV.

So that's the fix?

Do you have the wireless hub ( wam250) . .? if not you will not connect the speakers and soundbar. With it they all connect very easily.

TV sound connect and m7speakers

Hi, I have had exactly the same problem as you. The only way to get both the speakers to link up with the TV (wireless) is with the hw750 soundbar. Like you I had no problem with connecting one speaker, but if you do manage to connect both after 5-10 mins the sound drops and goes out of sync with the TV.
With the soundbar all connects with no problems at all. You still get full use of the multi room app and can play all your music through the soundbar as well

Thanks for reply, when I brought the 2 M7 speakers, I also purchased the H550 soundbar, thinking that I could connect them all to the TV. I can get them connected, but not all at the same time. The soundbar can't sync with the speakers, which if I had known beforehand I would not have brought.

soundbar

I had the same problem, I was lucky and spoke to someone at Samsung who knew what they were talking about. The only soundbar that you can use to connect to the speakers is the H750. When I turn on the TV the soundbar and 2 m3 speakers all turn themselves on. If I want to listen to music via the multi room app the pair of m7s automatically turn on as well. As you can imagine the sound is awesome. Turn off the music and go back to watching TV the m7s turn off and the system goes back to the soundbar and m3s.
Once you get the right speakers etc the system is very very good.
Think if I were in your position I would sell the H550 and get the H750, yes its more money but at least it would complete your set up.

Hi, What connections did you make to the TV, speakers and the H750 soundbar? Having a difficult time and directions in the manual is no help. Thanks

Make sure all speakers are disconected from the main electric supply. Press the add speaker button on the back of the hub (h250) then plug the power cable into the soundbar/sub, you will then after a minute or so get a message saying network connected. Then add one speaker at a time. When all connected you can the go into the TV menu, under sound go to speaker setting. Where it says TV sound output (or similar) select multi room link. Scroll down to multi room link and select soundbar+surround. The select what speaker you want where. Click OK. . . job done

Did you use the HDMI (ARC) or the Bluetooth wireless connection to the TV?

You must have the wam250 hub. Then they all connect very easily. Forget about using the app to make connection for now

Mar 8, 2015 4:37AM PDT

I have the same problem. I have the hub(h250) and the hw-h750 soundbar together with two m7s.I like the whole idea of how they can work together but i have tried every possible method possible but cannot connect everything together. The hub keeps blinking(wifi sign) on and when i press add speaker from the soundbar, nothing happens.I can only play music via the two m7 when i group them but cannot get the whole set up to work via the soundconnect option because it uses one speaker at a time.Has anyone been successful and a video setup will be greatly appreciated.
PS:This is one reason why i cannot like samsung fully.there is always that small thing missing.nothing seem to be seamless

Sam's like that.

They seem to have their own goals at times. I've taken it as a sign to be sure to get Sam on the phone to be sure whatever it is, can do it and let them give it a shot at setup. If not, back it goes for whatever the reason the retailer will accept.

Hi, I have the same setup that you have and started this thread when I was having problems connecting the soundbar and speakers. Instead of pressing the add speaker button on the soundbar,
press the add speaker button on each individual speaker instead. you should hear a beep when the connection take place. to start, you may have to reset the hub and speakers to get a clean connection.I also found that the soundbar has to be connected to the TV via the HDMI instead of wireless bluetooth.

- Collapse -
they should all connect wireless
Mar 8, 2015 9:03AM PDT

You should be able to connect them all wireless. I only have a power supply going to the speakers. Watching TV the soundbar and two m3's automatically connect to the TV. Switch to listening to music via the Samsung multiroom app, just touch the group button and the m7's join the rest

multi-link set-up
Mar 9, 2015 1:02AM PDT

The problem is trying to get the "multi-room" setting to come under the TV sound setting; I'm getting individual speaker settings, ex. Soundbar, Soundconnect01, Soundconnect02, Soundconnect03. If I'm reading your setup instructions correctly, I should only have one connection setting, which should be "multi-link".

Gingerbits, which model soundbar do you have? I have the HW-H750; the samsung rep that I talked to today said that my soundbar is not compatible to be connected via multi-link .... According to him, I am only able to connect individual speakers, which is why I'm only able to get the connections that I have.

I have the hw-h750, this is the only soundbar that will connect to the speakers. If you look on the box (I have just checked mine) it says multiroom link.
I cannot find how to post pictures on here, so here is my email address and I will send you pictures of how mine is set up. jason@jasonscott.wanadoo.co.uk

Mar 9, 2015 7:05AM PDT

Thanks for the heads up.I will try connecting the soundbar with hdmi and hook up the rest wirelessly and see if it works.cos i went out to buy a hub and a soundbar after i read this thread.I thought the suggestion by gingerbits was going to work so i went out to spent extra on a new hub and soundbar.pissed!it hasn't worked seamlessly till date.i will give it a try and post the outcome here
