Resolved Question

Samsung Smart TVs:

Jan 11, 2012 8:50PM PST

How can I find the different facilities available on the different Samsung Smart TVs?
I'm particularly interested in usage with a PC.

I have a 40D5520, which I bought just before Christmas.
When I acquired this TV, I assumed that all Samsung Smart TVs were essentially identical,
as far as software was concerned - I thought the term "Smart TV" referred to something like the operating system on a computer or phone (eg Windows 7 or Android).

(I even thought there must be some connection between Sony and Samsung Smart TVs.)

I also thought that the only difference between the D55** series and the D6* series
was that the latter had 3D TV (which I had decided I did not want).
But now it seems - maybe I am wrong? - that one can browse the internet on the D6*
but not on the D55*, even though this seems to have nothing to do with 3D.

Is there anywhere I can look for more information on these issues?

Thanks for the pointer - I was very interested in the list of applications available for my TV.

But my question was slightly different:
"I also thought that the only difference between the D55** series and the D6* series was that the latter had 3D TV (which I had decided I did not want).
But now it seems - maybe I am wrong? - that one can browse the internet on the D6*but not on the D55*, even though this seems to have nothing to do with 3D."

Could I actually browse the internet on the D6000 series in a way that I cannot on my D5520?

Is that 2 or more questions?

1. About Smart TV.

You're right. It's not something like a OS or computer or phone. There is so little standard here that I can see why folk may be unsettled when one Smart TV is smarter than the next. Bottom line? If one Smart TV has a feature, don't count on it in another Smart TV.

2. "browse the internet"

They do that but poorly. I've been chastised for writing how badly compared to almost any PC. We have to temper this with the fact they had no browser just 3 years ago.
