Question

Samsung Smart TV Universal Remote Setup & DishNetwork

Feb 6, 2015 5:07AM PST

Has any one been able to setup a SAMSUNG Smart TV, (I am using a UN50HU8550 Smart TV), using their universal remote setup, using the IR extender to operate either a DishNetwork VIP612 or VIP722 receiver.

I have had no luck getting this to work.

Samsung says you can setup their Universal Remote Control to operate a DishNetwork receiver.

Any help appreciated.

Answer
Sounds like a warranty issue.

If they claim it to be so, call it in and if they fail you have an exit to return it for another set that works as advertised.

Sounds simple.

Thanks, but Samsung's response: "Unfortunately, Samsung is unable to verify compatibility with third party devices as we are unable to test our products with those devices. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you. ^Vincent"

This is my third UN50HU8550 and was unable to gt it to work an any of them. Would like to hear from someone that has been able to control a DishNetwork receiver using Samsung's Universal Remote setup...

I see that in AVS Forums BUT

You have to ask them which set top box they have. I don't see where Samsung's response is an out. In your top box you seem to have them stating it works. It doesn't so it's clearly something they fibbed about.

Perhaps I should reword my response. When you go through Remote Setup the VIP612 comes up as a DishNetwork set top box. So since it's there I would think it should work...
